Inventory
To know with the greatest precision possible the volume of GHG emissions is essential to put a project for the reduction and neutralization of carbon into operation. The first Natura inventory was made with a base in the activities of the year 2006 and has been brought up to date and improved each year since.
The inventory is taken based on the standards of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Initiative (GHG Protocol) and on Standard ABNT NBR ISO 14064-1, which establishes principles for the conception, development, management and report generation for companies about the levels of GHG. In 2007 and 2008 both, our inventories were verified by the independent consultants Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
Natura works with an inventory with an enlarged scope that takes into consideration GHG emissions from the extraction of raw materials and packaging, passing through the internal processing and transport of products up to its final disposal. In 2007, our emissions totaled 179,040 tons of CO2e, and in 2008, 188.051 tons of CO2e.
For greater details about our inventory, read the Carbon Neutral Case 2009.
